Various initiatives have yielded impressive results by diversifying agricultural crops like avocados, bananas, and tea leaves, turning them into valuable commodities. Notably, the avocado production initiative has significantly increased output and become a significant source of foreign currency. Bedele City
Bunno Bedele is Oromia’s newest zone established in only 2016. With its capital at Bedele, the zone is inhabited by the Ilu Oromo whose founding fathers, the “Saglan Ilu” – the Ilu Nine – settled present-day Bunno Bedele and Ilubabor zones. A fifth of the total area of Bunno Bedele zone is covered by one of the most ancient forests in this part of Africa, a fact you notice right away looking at kilometer after kilometer of the dense jungle you traverse through on your way to Bedele and beyond.
