Mechanizing Agriculture for more Product in Oromia

If we aspire to enhance the contribution of agriculture to our economic growth, it is imperative to modernize our agricultural practices and broaden the range of available products. In the Oromia Regional State, the export of over 100 million quintals of wheat to global markets each year is a remarkable achievement. Various initiatives have yielded impressive results by diversifying agricultural crops like avocados, bananas, and tea leaves, turning them into valuable commodities. Notably, the avocado production initiative has significantly increased output and become a significant source of foreign currency. To ensure the success of the region's banana production project, selected banana seeds are being developed through tissue culture and made accessible to the public. The town of Dambi Dollo has located 652 Km to the West of Oromia. It was the first city where modern education began, and Yemenis, Greeks, Arabs, and Americans, including the country's ethnic groups, have lived in love and respect for many years. Currently, more than 52 thousand people are living in the cities.

Although the city has been in existence for a long time since its establishment, it has had many infrastructure problems due to a lack of attention by the successive governments that have led the country. Recently, the transitional government has paid high attention to the development of infrastructure that is comfortable for the life of the community and can change the economy of its residents.

Although Dambi Dollo town is in full economic activity, its economic activities have cooled down due to security problems in the district in the past four years have been doing well.  Meanwhile, with the participation of the people and the government, peace, and stability are being created and infrastructure development problems are being solved. Among these, the street lighting project, which was delayed for more than five years, has been completed at a cost of more than 9 million birr.

Besides, twenty km of roads that were plagued by fog and mud in summer have been completed at a cost of more than 42 million. The flood ditches constructed at a cost of 12 million will also solve the problems of the community.

With the recovery of socio-economic activities with the coming lasting peace, extensive greening works are being carried out to make the city greener and more comfortable for the lives of its residents.

In total, various types of development infrastructures are being constructed with more than 100 million and 47 million from the government budget and World Bank Assistance (UIIDP).

Community cooperation plays an important role alongside the government's efforts to make Dambi Dollo a green city with a developed infrastructure and security. Since there is no development without peace, community participation plays an important role in creating a peaceful and stable city and it is the role of the community to protect and maintain the development infrastructure.
