A panel discussion is underway at the Sheraton Hotel to celebrate the establishment of Shaggar. This city holds great promise as the political-economic center and hope for the development of our people. The discussion is graced by senior federal and regional leaders, Abbootiin Gada, religious leaders, residents' representatives, entrepreneurs, celebrities, and invited guests.


Opening the panel discussion, Dr. Tashoomee Addunyaa, the Vice Presidential Level Mayor of Shaggar, emphasizes the significance of urban development in fostering long-term economic and political progress.


Mr. Masfin Malaakuu, the vice presidential social cluster coordinator, highlights the purpose behind creating Shaggar city - to prevent displacement, build a historic city, and empower the people. The government aims to provide job opportunities, fair services, urban agriculture, and skill development to establish a prosperous city that meets the aspirations of the community.


A paper on the state of urban development is being presented by scholars and discussed during the event.


In a display of generosity, the city of Shaggar has donated food grains worth over Rs 40 million to aid the famine-stricken people of Borana State. Mr. Guyyoo Galgaloo, the Deputy Mayor of Shaggar, assures that support will continue even as the city progresses.


Shaggar city, recently established in the Oromia Special Regional State, brings together various towns from the Financial District. It encompasses 12 townships and 36 districts, making it the largest city in the country with a population of over 2.5 million.


The city's establishment serves two essential missions - safeguarding the city of Finfinnee and serving as a political, social, and economic pillar for the Oromo people.


To celebrate the occasion, the 1st Shaggar Grand Race will take place at the Sheraton Hotel on November 17, promoting common development. More than 300 athletes will participate in the 5 km race, accompanied by a horse racing exhibition featuring over 700 horses.


Shaggar city is a beacon of hope for the Oromo people, focusing on modernizing urban agriculture, enhancing urban services, promoting social development, and embracing digitalization.


The city's potential for becoming a major economic source for the country is immense, with over 4,000 people already employed in the past six months. The SME council is actively working on job creation and professional development, providing opportunities to thousands of individuals.


The panel discussion and events surrounding Shaggar city's establishment mark a significant milestone in Oromo history. It presents an opportunity for unity and active participation in the city's development, bringing forth a beautiful and economically vibrant center for the community.
